JOB TITLE:        PART-TIME BOOKSTORE ASSISTANT - Hall Campus

Reports To:         Bookstore Manager

Department:        Administrative Services 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Bookstore Assistant is responsible for operating a point of sale system and providing assistance to customers in the College Bookstore. Will also assist with daily deposits, stocking shelves, physical inventories of bookstore merchandise, and any other duties related to the day-to-day operation of the bookstore.

 

Major Duties:

·         Assists Bookstore Manager with the day-to-day operation of the College bookstore at the Hall campus;

·         Collects money and gives correct change to paying customers of the bookstore, ensuring accuracy and safety of receipts;

·         Checks and balances cash register receipts and the close of the day and prepares deposits;

·         Assists with inventory of textbooks and supplies;

·         Stocks shelves with books and supplies;

·         Responsible for book deliveries to other campus locations;

·         Other duties as assigned by Bookstore Manager

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of related work experience.

 

COMPETENCIES:

·         Skill in use of a computerized cash register;

·         Skill in effective interpersonal relations and serving the public;

·         Effective organizational skills, and ability to work effectively on multiple tasks alone;

·         Ability to understand the relationship between student information and financial systems;

·         Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs;

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills;

·         Ability to follow detailed procedures and adhere to established deadlines;

 

PHYSICAL COMPONENTS:

·         Physical ability to stock shelves and to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a consistent basis, and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):

·         Postsecondary training or degree

·         More than one (1) year of work-related experience;

·         Previous work experience in a retail setting that also included duties of inventory and stocking;

·         Ability to create and post social media content;

·         Ability to create web content using Nebraska systems; including taking pictures and posting on website;

·         Previous college bookstore experience;

·         Knowledge of Nebraska college bookstore software system.
