POSITION:               Conference Center Operations Manager – Hall County Campus

REPORTS TO:         Conference Center Director

SALARY RANGE:   Upper $50’s to Low $60’s, depending on experience and qualifications

EFFECTIVE:            This position is available now

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under minimal supervision, organizes and manages the operation of events at the Ramsey Conference Center. Coordinate and/or supervise the set up and break down of dining and meeting rooms for all functions. Plan for and schedule manpower, equipment and supply requirements for the operation of the Conference Center.  Works closely with Conference Center Director to maintain accountability for cost, utilization, and performance of contract vendors and equipment.  Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administration reports.

Major Duties:

·       Provides cost-effective management of set up and break down of conference center events;

·       Schedules and maintains cleaning for events;

·       Manages use of kitchen equipment and conference center equipment and care and upkeep;

·       Manages caterers at events to ensure care of conference center facilities;

·       Oversees and represents Lanier Technical College at evening and weekend events;

·       Assist the Conference Center Director in promoting the Conference Center to public and private organizations;

·       Coordinate catering and food operations at the Conference Center;

·       Communicates with approved caterers to insure proper use of the Conference Center facilities for food and beverage serving;

·       Manages supplies and materials for the Conference Center;

·       Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports;

·       Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Associates’ degree in Business or Event Management *and* Two (2) years of work-related experience in food and beverage management.  Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis;

·       Current Serv Safe and Alcohol Training certifications.

COMPETENCIES:

·       Knowledge of event planning and coordination

·       Knowledge of marketing principles

·       Knowledge of basic budget preparation procedures and techniques

·       Knowledge of purchasing and billing practices specific to area of assignment

·       Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations, such as food safety, security, and public assembly regulations

·       Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

·       Effective decision making and problem-solving skills

·       Effective oral and written communication skills

·       Ability to multitask and organize effectively

·       Ability to work flexible hours, including weeknights and weekends

·       Effective skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):

·       More than two (2) years of work-related experience in food and beverage management;

·       Previous experience working in a conference center, especially in a post-secondary environment.

·       Previous experience in Audio Visual Technology.
