POSITION: CASHIER
REPORTS TO: Student Account Manager
SALARY RANGE: Low to Mid $30’s, depending on education, qualifications, and experience
EFFECTIVE DATE: The position is available now
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Entry-level position responsible for performing cashiering and customer service duties at Lanier Technical College. Accepts cash, check or credit card payments at the Cashier Window; records activity in the Banner Software System; and balances daily deposit activity with Banner reports. Interacts with students and external customers via face-to-face, telephone and email communications on a daily basis to answer questions and resolve issues.
Major Duties:
· Collect and record Student payments received at Cashier Window, via Web or via Mail into the Banner Software System;
· Assists students with account balance questions;
· Perform cashier duties, i.e. handling cash, checks and credit card transactions with accuracy and precision while following College policies and procedures;
· Record daily payment activity using Banner student database software;
· Perform and complete a variety of tasks and assignments associated with support functions for the Cashier Department;
· Create student-related Banner reports;
· Prepare bank deposit;
· Monitor Business Office email and respond or route as necessary;
· Answer incoming student calls and respond or route as necessary;
· Maintain filing of invoices and cashier sessions;
· Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent *and* one (1) year related work experience. Previous cash handling experience required; Basic math and counting skills required.
COMPETENCIES:
· Precise attention to detail with cash handling;
· Knowledge of accounts receivables processes;
· Effective skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs, specifically Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel programs;
· Effective oral and written communication skills;
· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public on a daily basis
· Team player with a passion to serve others.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies)
· Experience working in Banner Software;
· Postsecondary diploma or degree from a college or university;
· Previous bank deposit work experience;
· Prior work experience in a postsecondary educational environment, preferably as Cashier.
Physical Demands
Will occasionally lift or move objects of a light to medium weight, up to 20 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
