Lanier Technical College is conducting a search for the following part-time position for our Hall County (Gainesville) and Barrow County (Winder) campuses.  NOTE:  A background check and professional reference check are part of the selection process. POSITION:    AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT – Hall and/or Barrow campuses

REPORTS TO:           Dean of Advanced Technology and Engineering

COMPENSATION:    Depending on education and qualifications

DEADLINE:               Until filled

EFFECTIVE:             May 1ST, 2026

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision:

·         Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives

·         Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited courses

·         Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives, submits midterm grade reports, final grade reports

·         Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate

·         Prepares and maintains all other required documentation and administrative reports

·         Completes required institutional trainings

·         Ensures that safety and security requirements are met in the training area

 

This position will serve to support courses in our Automation Technology and Mechatronics programs.  Classes run Monday – Thursday typically meeting 2 days per week for 8 or 16 weeks during the day and evening hours.  Courses include:

·         DC Circuit Analysis

·         AC Circuit Analysis

·         Industrial Wiring

·         PLC

·         Robotics

·         Motor Controls

·         Automation systems

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s degree in Automation Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university, with appropriate coursework that demonstrates competencies in specific course content. Credentials must satisfy all appropriate accrediting agencies.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·         Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.

·         Strong knowledge of topics within the courses assigned (i.e. PLC, DC Circuits, etc.)

·         Basic electrical theory, knowledge of lab procedures

·         Use of basic test equipment and knowledge of troubleshooting techniques

·         Ability to supervise students in a classroom and/or lab setting.

·         Ability to develop and evaluate daily lesson plans.

·         Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.

·         Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):

·         Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Systems Technology or closely related field.

·         At least three (3) years of industrial maintenance work experience.

 NOTE: Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment that are appointed on a per-academic-term basis.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
