POSITION: WELDING AND JOINING TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR
REPORTS TO: Dean of Applied Technology and Transportation
SALARY RANGE: Dependent on education and experience
EFFECTIVE: August 15th, 2024
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives; Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Welding & Joining Technology courses; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests; Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area; Meets with students, staff members to review progress of the students;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical diploma in Welding and Joining Technology from a regionally accredited college or university; three (3) years’ work experience in a position related to welding and joining technology. Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Ability to teach one or more courses under the Welding & Joining Technology curriculum. Courses include:
o Introduction to Welding Technology
o Oxyfuel & Plasma Cutting
o Flat Shielded Metal Arc Welding
o Horizontal Shielded Metal Arc Welding
o Gas Metal Arc Welding
o Vertical Shielded Metal Arc Welding
o Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
· Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory
· Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education
· Knowledge of academic course standards, and LTC’s academic programs
· Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff
· Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content
· Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College.
· Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
· Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making and problem solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum & technical competencies):
· Associate’s degree in Welding and Joining Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university;
· Have current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certifications; Teaching experience in a classroom and laboratory setting;
· Experience with blueprint reading and welding symbol identification;
· Knowledge of robotic training;
· Knowledge of Enroute 7, or other drawing software to operate a plasma cutting table.
