POSITION: ADJUNCT INTERIOR DESIGN INSTRUCTOR – Forsyth Campus; Cumming, GA 

REPORTS TO: Dean of Business, Public Safety, and Professional Services

SALARY: Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours

EFFECTIVE: Spring Semester (January 13th)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned: 

• Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives; 

• Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught; 

• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; 

• Administers and grades class examinations; 

• Maintains records of student grades; 

• Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed; 

• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training and laboratory areas; 

• Meets ALL required deadlines; 

• Meets with students, staff members, supervisors as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university; and demonstrated competencies in specific course content. Three (3) years of industry work experience is required. 

COMPETENCIES: 

Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials 

Knowledge of vocational area of assignment 

Skill in presenting subject matter 

Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress 

Skill in the use of computers and job related software programs: Microsoft Office Suites, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch. 

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners 

Oral and written communication skills 

Knowledge of student information systems 

This position is available at the Forsyth campus of Lanier Technical College, located in Cumming, GA.;  

Qualifications - External 

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications - External 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies): 

Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level; 

Teaching experience with online teaching platforms.

This position is available at the Forsyth campus of Lanier Technical College, located in Cumming, GA.; and day, evening, and online classes available.
