POSITION: AIR CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR– Hall campus
REPORTS TO: DEAN OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY
EFFECTIVE: SPRING SEMESTER 2026 – JANUARY 5, 2026
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision:
· Ensures that safety and security requirements are met in Classroom & Shop
· Follows lesson plans for classroom instruction and shop activities
· Maintains student records of weekly progress in classroom, shop, and online assignments
· Evaluates students’ performance in classroom instruction, shop activities, and online assignments
· Supports students’ progress in course goals and objectives.
· Monitors student progress in online assignments
· Completes required institutional trainings
· Submits all required institutional reports: Attendance, Midterm grades, Final grades
· Maintains program accreditation requirements, as documented
· Ensure all tools and material are returned and stored properly after each class
· Documents all changes to inventory or tool condition to the program director by email
· Maintains supplies/equipment and emails classroom/lab requests to the program director
This position will serve to support courses in our Air Conditioning Technology program.
-Classes are scheduled Monday – Thursday 8am-4pm
-Semester classes meet one (1) day per week for 16 weeks.
Courses taught include:
· Electrical Fundamentals
· Motors
· Controls
· Refrigeration Fundamentals (theory)
· Refrigeration Tools
· Refrigeration System Components
· System Design (heat loads)
· Gas Heat
· Heat Pumps
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology/ Refrigeration from a regionally accredited college or university, with appropriate coursework that demonstrates competencies in specific course content. Credentials must satisfy all appropriate accrediting agencies. Must have at least two (2) years of HVACR maintenance related experience. Must have appropriate licensure, certifications, or additional professional credential relevant to competencies in course content.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES:
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.
· Self-directed, ability to follow written instructions.
· Strong knowledge of electrical/mechanical principles.
· Knowledge of test instruments used in lab procedures
· Use of basic refrigeration service equipment and techniques
· Ability to follow daily lesson plans.
· Ability to supervise students in a classroom and/or lab setting.
· Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required outcomes.
· Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to instruction, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):
· Associates degree in HVACR Systems or closely related field.
· NATE Certifications in Heat Pumps, Gas Heat, Air Distribution
· GA. Low Voltage Licensed
· More than three (3) years of industrial maintenance work experience
