LANIER TECHNICAL COLLEGE; PART-TIME MOTORSPORTS VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY LAB ASSISTANT - HALL CAMPUS

Lanier Technical College – (www.laniertech.edu) - Hall Campus; Gainesville, GA is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits-eligible, FLSA-exempt position. NOTE: A background check is part of the selection process. 

POSITION: Part-Time Motorsports Technology Lab Assistant – Hall Campus 

REPORTS TO: Dean of Applied Technology and Transportation

SALARY: $15-17 per hour based on experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Motorsports Technology Lab Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members and performs routine standardized laboratory work requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies, assisting faculty in supervision of students assigned to laboratories, and other related duties and is employed on an individual academic term basis.

 MAJOR DUTIES

• Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction
• Tutor or mentor students
• Perform laboratory research
• Clean labs as needed
• Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials

COMPETENCIES

• Ability to assist in Intro to Motorsports, Motorsports Composites, Motorsports Fabrication Labs, Engine Lab, Gearboxes and Rear Ends Lab, Motorsports Electrical Lab, Race Car Prep and Testing Lab and Motorsports Welding Labs
• Ability to assist in evaluating students’ progress, competency mastery, and completion of lab assignments
• Ability to ensure and maintain lab safety and security standards
• Ability to work within the software systems of Blackboard, Office and Performance Trends

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Working on or has completed a technical Diploma or Degree in Automotive Technology from a regionally accredited college or university and has prior or current industry work experience.
• Ability to work any or a combination of following 2 day-a-week time blocks:  
  • Mornings 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
  • Afternoons from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
  • Afternoons from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

PREFEERED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:  

·        Will be a MVT Student or Graduate who has taken the courses they will be assisting with

·        Will have passed the courses they are assisting in with a “B” or better.

NOTE: Lab assistant positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment that are appointed on a per-academic-term basis.
