Laboratory Technician – Residential Construction and Carpentry

Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Engineering Construction Manufacturing and Design Division that reports to the Program Director of Residential Construction and Carpentry.

 

Schedule:  This position is TRS covered, hourly-paid, support position and as a result, may work at least twenty (20) but no more than twenty-nine (29) hours per week for an indefinite period based on business needs and departmental budget.

 

Salary: $16.64/hr

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code T9001): 
High school diploma or GED. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

(In addition to minimum qualifications) Preference will be given to applicants with 1-2 years of experience as a carpentry instructional aide.  Demonstrates initiative.  Demonstrates professionalism in appearance.  Possesses good interpersonal skills: with faculty; colleagues and peers; and students.  Post-Secondary Education in a related field is a plus. 

 

Job Description Summary:

Assist the Program Director in supervising and evaluating students in an on-campus residential construction lab setting.

 

Duties/ Responsibilities

Conduct lab activities (including enforcing lab safety protocols, demonstration of tasks, lab prep, help grading projects, and documentation).

Maintain equipment and supplies, including ordering, stocking and organizing

Ensure that labs and storage areas are neat and orderly.

Assist with grading course material & classroom prep.

Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
