The State Accounting Office (SAO) provides accounting and financial reporting expertise for the State and is statutorily responsible for statewide financial reporting. The SAO also provides enterprise oversight and management of the State’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, accounting policy development, financial business process improvement recommendations, and management of the payroll and accounting shared service centers.
Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Workday Business Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, configuring, and supporting the Workday platform to optimize human capital management (HCM), payroll, Time and Absence, and other business processes. The role involves working with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translating them into system configurations, and ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of the Workday system. The Business Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and mentor junior analysts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Workday Configuration and Optimization: Configure and optimize modules such as HCM, Payroll, Financials, and others within Workday to meet business requirements
· Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize business requirements, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
· Process Improvement: Analyze current business processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions to streamline operations and reduce costs.
· Data Analysis and Reporting: Build custom reports and dashboards within Workday to provide business insights and support decision-making.
· Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test plans to validate system configuration and ensure that updates and changes meet business needs.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the liaison between business units and IT teams, ensuring effective communication and successful outcomes.
· System Implementation: Support the design, testing, and implementation of new systems or processes, ensuring smooth integration into existing operations.
· Documentation: Create detailed functional specifications, process flow diagrams, and other documentation to support project execution and future reference.
· Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior business analysts, sharing best practices and providing leadership in complex analytical tasks.
Skills and Competencies:
· Strong proficiency in business analysis methodologies and tools (e.g., SWOT analysis, BPMN, etc.)
· Advanced data analysis skills with tools like Excel, SQL, and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
· Experience with process improvement frameworks such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position will be filled at a level commensurate with the selectee's education and experience at one of the following levels:
IT Enterprise Business Analyst 3 (Workday Business Analyst) – ITP182
Pay Grade: N
Salary range: $62,331.12 – $81,955.29
Associate degree and three (3) years of related experience; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level IT Enterprise Busi Analyst 2 (ITP181) or position equivalent.
IT Enterprise Business Analyst 4 (Workday Business Analyst) – ITP183
Pay Grade: O
Salary range: $69,134.16 - $91,309.47
Associate degree and five (5) years of related experience or five (5) years of job-specific experience, including system analysis, design and development, and relationship management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess the following:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
· Five to seven years of experience in business analysis, project management, or related roles, with a proven track record of successful project outcomes.
· Workday certifications in HCM, Payroll, or other modules.
· Experience with data migration and integration tools such as Workday Studio, EIBs, or APIs.
· Experience working in human resources or finance teams is an advantage.
· Certification such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP).
· Experience with ERP or CRM systems implementation (e.g., SAP, salesforce)
