The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.
The main office for DBHDD is located in downtown Atlanta.
Job Description
Job Title: Investigator- RN or LPN
Pay Grade: L
Job Summary:
**This position requires the selected candidate to be licensed as a RN or LPN. Candidates that do not hold one of those licenses will not be considered.**
- Conduct investigations
- Interview witnesses, complainants, and persons of interest to obtain information relevant to the investigation.
- Collect evidence in a systematic manner using established investigative methods and techniques.
- Request and review appropriate medical records and other data/records from a variety of sources.
- Coordinate investigations with other agencies as needed.
- Keep accurate, detailed and organized investigator notes that reflect records reviewed, interviews, and a history of the case being investigated.
- Maintain a level of understanding and familiarity with the applicable rules and regulations, policies, provider manuals, etc. sufficient to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Develop investigation reports that accurately, clearly, and thoroughly draw conclusions based upon evidence, testimony, policy, rules, regulations, etc.
- Provides technical support to the provider regarding deficiencies identified in an investigation.
- Accurate, thorough, and timely entry of data into multiple databases.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships and communicate effectively with providers and other stakeholders, including other DBHDD offices and divisions.
- Project a professional image through in-person, phone, and electronic communications.
- Plan and prioritize workload to meet day to day needs.
- Read, screen, and respond to correspondence in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and prioritize critical issues within identified parameters.
- Use sound judgment to respond appropriately to internal and external contacts.
- Independently establish and monitor deadlines to ensure timeliness.
- Execute high quality customer service by anticipating customer needs, providing services accurately, in a respectful and timely manner, and establishing and maintaining effective contact and follow through with customers.
- Collaborate and work effectively as a team member.
- Assist with projects as needed.
- Participates in team meetings and attend trainings.
- Travel statewide as needed.
