Medicaid Fraud - Intake Coordinator

Salary - $40,000.00

The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers, and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General.  The position filled through this announcement will serve in the Investigations Section of our Medicaid Fraud & Patient Protection Division.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Receives incoming complaints of Medicaid provider fraud, patient abuse & neglect, misappropriation of board & care facility resident funds/property, and related crimes, via telephone, mail, electronic mail, and web site submissions; provides assistance to government officials, law enforcement agencies, and the general public; conducts preliminary research regarding complaints utilizing appropriate databases; corresponds with regulatory, administrative, and law enforcement agencies;  maintains and updates records and performs related clerical tasks; proofreads reports for submission to Division Leadership.  

This is an ideal position for an individual with limited job experience but an interest in progressing to be an Investigator with the Division.

MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS

·         Knowledge of (1) office policies & procedures; (2) state laws and rules governing the Georgia Medicaid program; and (3) criminal laws and other enforcement processes relating to provider fraud, patient abuse & neglect, and the misappropriation of board & care facility resident funds/property.

·         Comfortable communicating via telephone and electronic means with law enforcement partners and the general public.

·         Ability to appropriately handle sensitive or confidential inquiries.

 

·         Ability to be trained on and proficiently use research methods to gather relevant information to supplement incoming complaints.

·         Ability to prepare appropriate reports in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner for submission to Division Leadership.

·         Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on maintaining complete, accurate, and appropriately labeled electronic case files associated with complaint intake.

 

·         Comfortable learning and working with new technology.

·         Maintains supplies and equipment according to established Division requirements and Department standards.

·         Maintains professional knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and applies pertinent new knowledge to the performance of other responsibilities. Participates in seminars and professional meetings when available and approved in advance.

·         Accepts direction and feedback from supervisors and follows through appropriately.

·         Uses appropriate channels of communication.

·         Strong written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a High School diploma and twelve months of fraud investigation or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to

·        Criminal Justice or Business-related degree

·        Law enforcement experience

·        Demonstrated analytical skills.

Additional Information

Employment is contingent upon completion and satisfactory results of a criminal background check.  

Candidates that are being strongly considered for the position will be required to submit a Department of Law employment application & waiver to background check, Georgia Department of Revenue Tax Clearance letter, and copies of official college transcripts.
