“Drug & Alcohol Testing Coordinator”

Job Summary: Under broad supervision, may serve as a lead in human resources functions, including compensation, benefits, recruitment, employee relations, and personnel/payroll transactions. May instruct the work of transactions technicians and administrative staff.

Job Specific Duties: This position will handle the drug and alcohol testing program statewide to include being a point of contact, communicating with vendors, sending routine new hires and random testing notices, reviewing invoices and submitting them for payment to Accounts Payable. Conducts training and ensures compliance to the federal regulations. Stays up to date on changes to drug free workplace processes and forms. May provide recommendations on policy. This position may also assists with other tasks such as performance management and pre-employment screening.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

·         High school diploma/GED and five (5) years of professional human resource experience.

·         OR one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Generalist 2 (HRP011) or position equivalent.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Demonstrated experience with general HR policies and program management related to the position

·         Possesses good computer skills

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience successfully building relationships with peers to be viewed as a trusted resource for advice and guidance

·         Demonstrated ability making sound and well-informed decisions with strong analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills

·         Demonstrated excellent customer service skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively respond and resolve internal and external customer needs

·         Displays a professional image and a high level of confidentiality

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Demonstrated experience with handling random drug and alcohol testing, monitoring positions that require testing, and/or invoicing the clinics or vendors

·         Familiarity with PeopleSoft HRIS or similar employee management software

·         Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions to streamline practices and procedures

·         Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a goal based and/or deadline driven work environment

·         Demonstrated professional experience in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment

·         Familiarity of the Georgia Department of Transportation organizational structure

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
