HRT010, HR Technician 1 (F) – “Safety Risk Associate”

Job Salary $35,500

 

Job Specific Duties: Under general supervision, processes new incident cases of general, auto and property liability and workers’ compensation in partnership with Georgia’s Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) to bring about swift resolution. Prepares liability and compensation tracking case documents and reviews them for completeness. Posts additional case information when available. Contacts the involved persons to obtain missing information, reviews cases to determine coverage. Communicates both directly with travelers as well as internal business partners throughout the department. Provides status reports for the program areas served. Performs duties aligned with policies and procedures. Specializes in processing incidents through intake, research, summarization and reporting of incidents identified by citizens or internal sources. Learns and applies experience-developed knowledge in the program area to make standard applications of laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Provides effective communications verbal (incoming and outbound) phone calls as well as written communications in official letters, memos and emails in support of the department’s insurance and risk programs. May serve as a primary contact and information source for assigned program area or specialized function\activity. Collaborates with the third-party administrator for the DOAS to provide a coordinated response to compensation and liability claims against the department. Performs other administrative duties in support of an organizational unit or program area and/or in a specialized functional or activity areas as assigned.

Advocates safety an essential team member of Safety Section’s insurance and risk management team. Performs duties for a variety of insurance, risks and safety programs. Performs data collection and analysis for administration of general, auto and property liability activities and related insurance programs. Assists in the development of insurance and risk policies and programs and supports special projects. Monitors insurance and risk program activities and provides safety management with periodic updates of claim activities. Routinely corresponds outside the agency with citizens, lawyers and other state agencies.

This position is located in Chamblee, GA. Training will be in Atlanta for the first few months before transferring to location.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

 

STATE ENTRY QUALIFCATIONS:

·         High School Diploma or GED and six months of experience performing human resources related functions

·         OR High school diploma or GED and one year of post-secondary education at an accredited college or university

 

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Experience providing administrative or technical support similar to the advertised vacancy

·         Must have a valid Driver’s License (non-CDL or CDL) and a safe driving record of more than one year.

·         Proficiency in working with computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite

·         Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, organize work, set priorities and determine objectives and strategies to achieve them 

·         Demonstrated ability to handle/process confidential information   

·         Ability to ensure integrity and accuracy of employee data

·         Demonstrates strong analytical skills and is detail-oriented

·         Demonstrated experience identifying and analyzing problems; gathering, interpreting, and evaluating information to determine its accuracy and relevance

·         Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment to resolve insurance/risk transactional issues

·         Demonstrated ability to work well with others to achieve team projects

·         Displays high standards of ethical conduct and a high level of commitment toward performing work

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others in a courteous, professional manner

·         Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Displays a professional image

·         Committed to providing excellent customer service

 

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Experience in Risk or Human Resources in State Government

·         Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a goal based and/or deadline driven work environment

The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection.  In addition to the interview, the final selection is based on the applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation) and, for supervisory positions, demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered.  

 

Good Employment Standing:

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
