This position is located in Milledgeville, Georgia
Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm
Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Oversees the maintenance of grounds for an assigned property. Operates and maintains grounds equipment as necessary.
Job Duties:
- Develops landscape plans, designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Supervisors and plans work of assigned staff.
- Follows planned designs to determine where to plant or lay sod.
- Gives direction in the hauling and spreading of topsoil straw.
- makes improvements to walks, lanes, sheds, and benches, including painting and minor repairs.
- Mixes and sprays or spreads fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides, onto grass, shrubs and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Oversees the care of established lawns
- Plants seeds, bulbs, foliage and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
- Provides preventive maintenance pertaining to grounds area and/or state cemeteries or park facilities along with other duties
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Two years of related experience as a supervisor or lead worker AND valid driver's license OR One (1) year of experience at the lower level Groundskeeper 3 or position equivalent.
