GED/HiSET Part-Time Instructor

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager of Adult Education, the part-time instructor provides instruction for High School Equivalency (HSE) Tests (i.e., GED and HiSET) in the academic areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

· Teach HSE classes that consist of standards-based lessons in reading, writing, speaking, and/or language skills based on the individualized learning needs of students. |

· Utilize pre-test scores to develop targeted instruction for students; devise student learning plans for all students based on pre-test scores and prepare students for post-testing. |

· Conduct and coordinate student assessments. Review post-test scores and practice test scores. |

· Promote adult education throughout the service delivery area. |

|
· Complete and maintain appropriate attendance and assessment records and ensure timely submission (daily) of data. Evaluate students’ ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives and document in GALIS. |

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time teaching position. Weekly hours will range from 13 to 19, dependent upon instructional time, planning, professional development, and student needs.
Travel:
Travel to other campuses is a possibility for meetings, trainings, professional development, etc.…
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree

· Two (2) years related work experience
Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree;
· Minimum three (3) years’ experience in education, or
related field;
· Teaching Experience in middle, secondary or adult Level in math and reading;
· Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Location and Hours of Instruction
Three open positions. One located on the Douglasville campus, teaching mornings (8:30AM to 12:00PM) and one located on the Carrollton campus teaching evenings (5:00PM- 8:00PM) and one located on the Coweta campus teaching evenings (5:00-8:00PM). The schedule includes teaching three to four classes per week dependent upon student need.
Rate of Pay
$22 per hour – no benefits. Grant funded.
