Full-Time Instructor - Dental Assisting

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Dental Assisting Instructor in the Health and Public Safety Technology Department of the Academic and Student Affairs division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s Main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technology, the Full-Time Instructor (Dental Assisting) is responsible for preparing and delivering quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom, dental lab & clinical settings.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.
- Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
- Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the Dental Assisting field.
- Follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabus.
- Monitors student use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
- Maintains classrooms, clinics, and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations. Assists with student recruitment and job placement. Serves on committees.
- Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.
- Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
- Assists in the development of reports and other requirements designated by TCSG and Atlanta Technical College.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health-related field AND Three (3) or more years of paid full-time work experience as a dental assistant, in addition to teaching experience in a dental assisting program.
Certifications/Licenses:
Georgia State Licensure as a Certified Dental Assistant in Good Standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate a Master’s Degree in a health-related field AND Five (5) or more years of paid full-time work experience as a dental assistant, in addition to teaching experience in a dental assistance program.
