Full-Time Instructor - Carpentry
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Carpentry) position in the Industrial & Transportation Technology department of the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Industrial & Transportation Technologies, the Full-Time Instructor (Carpentry) is responsible for preparing and delivering quality curriculum with daily instruction of Carpentry in the classroom & practical settings.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
· Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
· Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.
· Follows approved curriculum standards and course syllabi.
· Monitors students’ use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
· Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
· Teach Carpentry and general construction courses to include topics in design, safety, layout, frame, and finish.
· Must be able to safely guide students in all phases of the building process.
· Provide advisement to students matriculating in the carpentry program.
· Attend meetings relating to the program, academic division, and college.
· Assist with recruitment as needed.
· Visit area high schools and other partnering locations to promote or inform about the program.
· Maintain accurate student’s classroom performance records.
· Submit grades as required at the end of each academic period.
· Attend graduation ceremonies in appropriate academic regalia.
· Work with industry partners to foster external support for the program.
· Assist with acquiring participants from industry to sit on the program's advisory committee.
· Work with corporate partners to make sure students are adequately placed upon graduating.
· Attending meetings as required.
· Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.
· Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
· Serves on committees.
· Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.
· Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and
· Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
· Completion of a High School diploma or equivalent; OR higher credential in Carpentry, Construction. Architecture, or related field with at least five (5) years’ experience working in carpentry or construction.
· Practical experience working on residential and/ or commercial job sites.
· Ability to demonstrate skills in oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to demonstrate skills in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
