Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Executive Director - ATL Community Media position in the Communications, Marketing and Public Relations Department. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Under the general supervision of the VP of Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations, the Full-Time Executive Director - ATL Community Media, serves as the strategic leader of ATL Community Media Channel 24 on behalf of the school. This role oversees operations, programming, staff, partnerships, and financial stewardship of the organization. The Executive Director ensures the channel fulfills its mission to serve Atlanta's diverse communities through innovative, accessible, and community-driven media.

This role builds and maintains partnerships with film and television industry leaders, studios, production companies, educational institutions, and community organizations to create meaningful learning and career opportunities. The Executive Director manages staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and compliance; represents the organization at industry and community events; and collaborates with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance, financial stewardship, and long-term organizational growth.

About ATL Community Media Channel 24:

ATL Community Media Channel 24 is Atlanta's public access and community media hub, dedicated to amplifying local voices, fostering civic engagement, and providing equitable access to media production resources. We empower residents, creators, and organizations to tell their stories, learn media skills, and participate in a vibrant, inclusive media ecosystem.

 

 Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

·         Develop and execute a long-term strategic plan aligned with the mission and goals of Channel 24.

·         Lead organizational growth, innovation, and community impact initiatives.

·         Maintain a strong understanding of trends in media, technology, and public access broadcasting.

·         Oversee daily operations, including programming, production services, training programs, and facility management.

·         Ensure compliance with all FCC regulations, Public Educational and Government access requirements.

·         Maintain high standards for content quality, accessibility, and community relevance.

·         Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial sustainability and transparency.

·         Oversee grant writing, fundraising, sponsorships, and revenue-generating initiatives.

·         Provide regular financial reports to the Board of Directors.

·         Build strong relationships with community organizations, local government, educational institutions, and media partners.

·         Represent Channel 24 at public events, community meetings, and industry conferences.

·         Expand outreach to underserved communities to ensure equitable access to media resources.

·         Recruit, supervise, and develop a diverse and talented team.

·         Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture.

·         Implement professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.

·         Serve as the primary liaison to the Board oversite committee.

·         Provide timely updates, strategic recommendations, and operational insights.

·         Support board development and governance best practices.

·         Perform additional duties, as assigned.

·         Knowledge of industry operations, adult learning concepts, vision and mission of technical colleges, strategic plans and goals

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

Bachelor's degree AND Five (5) years of related work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:

·         Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.

·         Master’s degree in a related field.

·    Five (5) years of experience working with Public Educational and Government channels, municipal partners, or similar leadership in community media centers.

·         Seven (7) or more years of leadership experience in media, nonprofit, public access television, or a related sector.

·         Demonstrated experience managing budgets, staff, and organizational operations.

·         Strong understanding of community media, digital storytelling, and public access broadcasting.

·         Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.

·         Proven success in fundraising, grant management, and partnership development.

·         Familiarity with Atlanta’s cultural, civic, and media landscape.
