Financial Aid Specialist - FWS (Full-Time)
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Financial Aid Specialist (Full-Time) position in the Financial Aid division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just south of Atlanta.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, the Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for performing professional and administrative duties associated with the delivery of student financial aid services which may include Loans, FWS, Stale Aid Programs, Satisfactory Academic Progress, Outreach, VA, etc.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Collects and reviews financial aid applications to determine completeness and eligibility.
- Determines eligibility and awards financial aid applicants using various software packages, processes applications and corrections, tracks documents, completes the verification process, generates tracking and award notifications.
- Generates and evaluates proposals, reporting, and outreach notifications for special populations.
- Requests additional information for incomplete or inconsistent applications to perform accurate needs analysis.
- Counsels and advises students and parents concerning federal, state, and institutional aid and application processes via appointment, walk-in, email, and phone communication.
- Participates and collaborates with outreach efforts for the Office of Financial Aid (i.e., orientation and special events.)
- Assists with monitoring SAP status for students.
- Assists with front-counter duties as needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Financial Aid Leadership team.

· Knowledge of college, state, and federal student financial aid programs, regulations, and guidelines.
· Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations.
· Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.

· Strong analytical skills to analyze and interpret financial data.
· Ability to review, interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.

· Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public, using tact, patience, and courtesy.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of related work experience.
*** NOTE: Experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four (4) or more years of related work experience.
