Federal Work-Study – Science Lab Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
The Federal Work Study assists with general clerical duties for a department in a technical college. The student will work directly within Natural Sciences in the labs.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Assists lab instructor in helping students identify structures on handouts and models, use the microscope, and review for exams.
- Additional lab duties will include photocopying lab materials, light cleaning, organization, and maintenance of program-specific equipment.
- Demonstrates professionalism in contact with students, coworkers and the public.
- Maintains and disseminates necessary supplies.
- Enhances the mission of the College by demonstrating willingness to work as a team player;
- Complies with the policies and procedures of the College and the Technical College System of Georgia;
- Arrives at work on time;
- Displays cooperative, supportive and professional behavior toward colleagues and the administration;
- Tutoring, if applicable; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Financial need
- Enrolled as a student at the location seeking employment
- Enrolled in an Allied Health Sciences Program
- Completion of Anatomy & Physiology I with a B or higher
- Satisfactory academic progress for Federal Student Aid programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the minimum qualifications:
- The possibility of an interest in entering education as a practitioner from the student’s field of study.
- Flexible work hours, dependent on the student’s current course schedule.
- Student has successfully completed one semester at SRTC.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Hourly
- Salary commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience
