The Georgia Department of Defense is seeking a Facilities Planner to join the Planning Division of the Georgia Army National Guard’s Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO). As a critical part of the division staff, the Facilities Planner must have the ability to evaluate reports and studies, understand and interpret legal documents, and independently use software such as MS Office and ESRI GIS. The Facilities Planner will work under the supervision of the Master Planner Supervisor.
The position requires the ability to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills, use mathematical computations to solve practical problems, and mentally visualize completed projects based on a project plan. A basic knowledge of commercial construction requirements and US Army real property policies and procedures would be highly beneficial in this position.
Typical responsibilities of the Facilities Planner include:
- Master Planning Analysis
- Utilizes current systems and technologies to determine needs of the GA ARNG (e.g. space analysis, GIS databases, Army stationing databases).
- Assists with Congressional project submissions for restoration and military construction efforts.
- Assistant with planning and programming of current and future facilities within the GA ARNG footprint.
- Collaborates with external partners to create decision briefs for leadership influence.
- Workes with Real Property team to update databases for future and on-going projects.
Occasional travel to Georgia Army National Guard facilities across the state will be required in order to conduct site visits and attend meetings.
Agency Specific Qualifications and/or Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those qualified applicants who possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in facilities/city planning (or a related field) as well as two years of related work experience.
- Certifications and Working experience with GIS, PRIDEWEB (SAP, GFEBS), ASIP, FMSWeb
The selected applicant must meet the following standards:
1. Possess a valid drivers' license.
2. Pass a pre-employment drug-test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program.
3. Pass a pre-employment background check, which includes a Georgia criminal history, as well as a post-hire federal background investigation.
4. Eligible to work in the U.S.
5. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
