Executive Director, Academic Affairs

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their fulltime Executive Director for Academic Affairs position in the Office of Technical Education. Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner for Academic Affairs, they will be responsible for the strategic and operational initiatives for the Academic Affairs division, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across the system. The position focuses on curriculum development, academic policy, faculty affairs, and student retention, driving technology-enabled, data-informed, and student-centered approaches to education. This position is located at the TCSG System Office, 1800 Century Place, Atlanta, Georgia 30345
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supports colleges in the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs, policies, and procedures
· Ensures all academic programs meet federal, state, and regional accreditation standards
· Collaborates with Student Affairs to create and monitor initiatives that enhance student persistence, retention, and completion
· Analyzes academic data to identify trends, improve program effectiveness, and inform resource allocation
· Ensures the curriculum database and KMS are up to date in an efficient and expedient manner
· Manages the day-to-day operations of the assigned unit through a professional staff and directs the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures
· Assist in providing leadership and direction to program staff, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
· Coordinates with the Executive Director for Technical Education Initiatives to create processes, procedures, and timelines for successful and efficient creation of new curriculum.
· Ensures timely and effective meetings of program IFCCs
· Interacts with the State Board of the Technical College System, Presidents of Georgia’s technical colleges, and community, business and educational leaders
· Manages and oversees financial/budget operation of the department
· Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and department procedures
· Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the program
· Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals upon reviewing of all relevant information
· Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and make adjustments as needed
· Promotes the interests of the Division and TCSG
· Assists with the development of grant applications, budgets, reports, and evaluations, making adjustments to meet objectives
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree *and* Five (5) years of relevant experience in technical and/or community college administration at the institutional and/system level
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s degree from a nationally accredited institution and three (3) years of relevant experience in higher education administration; or a Doctoral degree in leadership or related field from an accredited institution. Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
· Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other job-related software applications
· Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service and stakeholder engagement
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK CONDITIONS
· Work is primarily performed in an office environment during standard business hours. Limited remote work may be available in accordance with agency policy and operational needs.
· Work performance involves light physical duties, including intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.
· Employees must be able to lift up to ten (10) pounds
