Environmental Technology Adjunct

Under general supervision, the adjunct instructor will be responsible for providing guidance and instruction to students in the Environmental Technology Program. The program is designed to offer specialized training to those who are interested in employment in an environmental science related field and want to contribute to addressing issues associated with human interaction with the environment. The courses in the Wildlife and Fisheries Management specialization meet the requirement that the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has established for Wildlife and Fisheries Technicians and Conservation Ranger. The instructor will work in classroom, indoor, and outdoor lab areas requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance and operation of th equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies. The instructor must demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques; use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books, and any other record-keeping required; effective use of oral and written communication skills; knowledge of current in-field procedures; and follow approved course syllabus. The instructor will evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives within the program, complete all reports and records in a timely manner and maintain accurate inventory of al! assigned properties. The position may involve teaching traditional day and/or evening classes or online classes. Applicants must be motivated, organized, and able to work collegially in a professional environment. The selected candidate must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking. The selected candidate must also withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions with possible exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in a lab environment. You must be able to work with minimum supervision, effectively use oral and written communication skills, and demonstrate knowledge of current in-field procedures. |
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience developing and teaching lessons individually and in classroom environments. |
Salary/Benefits: Pay based on course load each semester. |
