Environmental Regional Compliance Assessor - CFMO Marietta

As part of the GaARNG Construction & Facilities Management Office Environmental Team, the Regional Assessor (RA) provides guidance to assigned Georgia Army National Guard (GaARNG) facilities to achieve compliance with Federal, State, NGB, and local environmental rules and regulations applicable to the site mission and activities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Works with GaARNG facility environmental officers (EOs) to identify and address issues discovered during site assessments that could impact site compliance. 
  • Follows the current EPAS Assessment SOP to systematically identify site specific environmental areas requiring assistance to achieve or maintain environmental compliance and assists with developing and communicating corrective action(s) to address and resolve matters requiring improvement. 
  • Documents all site assessments, findings, updates, and compliance notes in the assessment database.
  • Maintains records and files for assigned sites.
  • Provides technical support to facilities for waste turn-in processing and for scheduled waste pick-ups, determined by the CFM-E Hazardous Waste Manager
  • Develops site visit/assessment schedule for assigned facilities at a frequency determined by the CFM-E’s Environmental Performance Assessment System (EPAS) Manager or the Director, Environmental Programs and adjust schedule, if needed, to address Directorate priorities.
  • Works to develop consistent assistance and guidance aimed at maintaining environmental compliance and developing solid relationships with site EOs and personnel.
  • Communicates status of assigned sites during weekly Directorate meetings.
  • Ensures assigned sites have the appropriate waste supplies, labels, markings, site and/ or GaARNG specific policies and plans, as well as required compliance related records. 

Preferred Qualifications:


Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications possess: 

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or similar area of study (Experience can be substituted for education on a year-by-year basis).
  • Professional certification in the field of environmental science.

The GADOD allows state employees a maximum of one hour per workday of official time may be used as physical fitness training onsite, dependent upon business needs.

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, geology, engineering, or another closely related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional job-related experience in environmental protection; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Environmental Complnc Spec 1 (RCP020) or position equivalent.
