This job is a full-time, benefited, FLSA Exempt position in the Student Affairs Division that reports to the Director of International Student Services. This position’s primary location will be the Lawrenceville Campus but travel will be required to serve students on the Alpharetta North-Fulton Campus one to two days per week.  As required by the United States Department of Homeland Security, the person hired must be a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States to serve as a DSO.

 

Salary: Targeted salary is commensurate with education and experience not to exceed the budgeted amount of $56,000.00/year.

 

Schedule: Monday - Thursday between 8:00am - 6:00pm, and Friday between 8:00am- 4:00pm.  Occasional Saturdays and some evenings.  Schedule is subject to change.  Flexibility is a must.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11130): Associate's Degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education*and* three (3) years of related experience.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: 

·         Three years of related experience in post-secondary institution with experience and knowledge of Admissions, Enrollment, Academic Advisement, and Registrar policies and procedures

·         Knowledge of TCSG Admissions policies & regulations  

·         Knowledge of Accuplacer and other Admissions assessment criteria  

·         Proficiency on any of the following: Target X, Staff BANNER, DegreeWorks, SEVIS and BDMS Document Manager  

·         Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

·         Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

·         Culturally sensitive, caring and friendly with a deep understanding and appreciation of GTC’s multicultural college community  

·         Passion for helping individuals from different cultures with diverse levels of English proficiency 

 

Job Description Summary:
Under the leadership and supervision of the Director of International Student Services, the International Student Enrollment Advisor provides enrollment support services for a diverse multicultural student population at the Lawrenceville and the Alpharetta North-Fulton Campus. This role functions as part of a team consisting of faculty, Admissions, Records, and Academic Advisement. The advisement process includes assisting prospective students with understanding and completing admission requirements, as well as the process to obtain an F-1 Visa; orienting students to GTC’s academic structure and policies; registration related issues and processes, comprehensive academic planning understanding requirements of their non-immigrant or immigrant status; Providing information for financial assistance and other resources available to International Students; creation of education plans using Degree Works; registration assistance; coordinating efforts between faculty, staff, and student to facilitate student success; and referring students to support services offered through GTC and Atlanta metro counties.

Assists with maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitors Information System (SEVIS). Other duties may be assigned by the Director of International Student Services. Disposition to learn and comply with the requirements of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Duties/Responsibilities

1.       Provide outstanding customer service and advisement to F-1 Visa and International students through face-to-face, telephone, and electronic media.

·         Serve as DSO for Gwinnett Technical College. Maintain up-to-date training on SEVIS requirements.

·         assist prospective students with understanding and completing admission requirements, as well as the process to obtain an F-1 Visa.

·         orient students to GTC’s academic structure and policies, registration related issues and processes, comprehensive academic planning understanding requirements of their non-immigrant or immigrant status.

·         Provide information for financial assistance and other resources available to International Students.

·         create education plans using Degree Works.

·         provide registration assistance to F-1 Visa students

·         coordinate efforts between faculty, staff, and student to facilitate student success.

·         refer students to professional support services offered through GTC and Atlanta metro counties.

·         Assist with maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitors Information System (SEVIS).

·      Utilize database software and statistical programs for tracking purposes and assessment of services provided.

·      Ensure forms are fully completed before being submitted.

2.       Assist with registration and graduation activities.

·      Conduct graduation audits, advisement on graduation and commencement ceremony requirements, and other graduation related advisement specific to international students and their family members who may attend from overseas.

3.         Assist with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities as requested.

·      Readily assist with F-1 Visa New Student Orientation, special events, projects and activities.

·      Share information with other departments regarding activities in a timely manner.

·      Provide periodic workshops and training sessions to promote student success.
