Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Federal Programs is recruiting for a Program Specialist for the Instruction and System Improvement Unit in the Division for Exceptional Children. This position provides programmatic support for Specially Designed Instruction and professional learning for state-supported instructional programs. This position will also collaborate across divisions within the state educational agency (SEA).  Duties include but are not limited to:

Job Duties

  • Provide direct support with systemic improvement efforts and all instructional related initiatives
  • Serve as a key collaborator with stakeholders to develop and implement statewide efforts to support instruction for students with disabilities at the state, regional, and local levels
  • Make recommendations for changes and improvements based on research and evaluation data
  • Communicate program design/deliverables, plan implementation and impact
  • Design and conduct professional learning projects, provide specialized support to LEAs, develop reports, and presentation materials
  • Experience in PK-12 special education 

     

  • Experience in school psychology, speech language pathology, preschool special education, and other special education certification areas

  • Specially designed instruction and systemic improvement 

     

  • School, local district, or state level in supervising for compliance with federal and state rules and regulations 

  • Excellent presentation skills 

  • Hold a Georgia professional educator certification in special education  

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills   

  • Experience with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences will be given to applicants who meets the below preference(s) in addition to the minimum qualifications:

 

  • Experience with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
