DESCRIPTION:

Under   general   supervision, assists   state, secondary   and   postsecondary instructional leadership in the planning and development of career programs of study including articulation, Dual Enrollment opportunities that leads to either an industry recognized credential, postsecondary certificate of credit, diploma, or associates degree. This position will primarily serve DeKalb County.  Travel within the GPTC service area will be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as primary point of contact for and collaborates with high school administrators, counselors and staff to promote a seamless guidance system between secondary and post-secondary institutions in a professional manner.
  2. Secures proper signatures required by the Technical College System of Georgia and the Department of Education (DOE) for dual and joint enrollment programs and articulation agreements in a timely manner.
  3. Provides information to students on program offerings and facilitates the admissions process, including arranging for placement testing, application collection, transfer of transcripts, and financial aid completion.
  4. Coordinates with high schools, the registration and withdrawal of students in the program in an organized and timely manner.
  5. Responsible for the initial and continuing education of public and private middle and high school administrators, counselors, and teachers relative to Dual Enrollment.
  6. Evaluates Dual Enrollment applicants' files to ensure that specific admission criteria have been met.
  7. Coordinates with financial aid staff regarding tuition, fees, and GA Futures in a professional and timely manner.
  8. Initiates the entry of application information into the student information system.
  9. Verifies each student is in the appropriate program of study based on schedule of classes and that each student's classes are within the program of study for financial aid purposes.
  10. Provides high school personnel with semester schedules for students participating in off-campus programs.
  11. Enrolls students into their requested courses using BANNER.
  12. Communicates and educates secondary staff about the Dual Enrollment and articulation matrices.
  13. Facilitates the awarding of individual student articulated credit at the technical college level.
  14. Creates a schedule for ACCUPLACER prep sessions testing, and retesting in all high schools in the assigned area.
  15. Maintains accurate records of ACCUPLACER scores for Dual Enrollment students and articulated credit awards. Enters data within specified time frames.
  16. Assists in maintaining the acquisition and distribution process of textbooks for students; to include coordinating book orders with campus bookstore and ensuring student accounts remain accurate, and delivering textbooks for students.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

The salary for this position is $48,000. This is a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.

Must have a Bachelor' s degree from an accredited college or university *and* two (2) years of work experience in a secondary or post-secondary environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Admissions counseling and recruitment experience at a college or technical college.
  • Instructional experience in a high school setting.  
  • Work experience in post-secondary education using a student information system or K-12 school system.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the application of BANNER or other administrative systems, knowledge of  regional databases; knowledge of state regulations regarding admissions, international students and residency.
Associate's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education*and* Three (3) years of related experience.
