JOB SUMMARRY:
Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under direct supervision, will perform and oversee management of construction project activities; includes inspecting and managing highway construction projects to ensure the contactor’s work is in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable guidelines.
- Attends field plan reviews and pre-construction conferences and reviews plans and contract special provisions prior to beginning work.
- Prepares pay statements and other required project documents and maintains project records.
- Assists in a variety of transportation engineering services.
- Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities using calculator or computer.
- Read and review blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of project and material requirements.
- Confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications.
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- OR Associate degree in a related field
- OR One (1) year of experience at position equivalent
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an Associate degree in a related field Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, etc.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform moderately difficult mathematical calculations (including algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
- Ability to read and interpret technical information, such as plans, specifications, design standards, etc.; to collect, organize and analyze information on transportation issues or problems; and to maintain detailed records of project activities.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Strong customer orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

In addition, an employee must have an overall e Performance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
