The Information Technology Division is seeking to fill a Developer 2 position. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and analyzing requirements, developing functionality in ITS, and collaborating with team members to write, review, and maintain version-controlled code. You will also contribute to design documentation and reviews, debugging and testing software, preparing implementation specifications, and supporting production on a day-to-day basis.
The ideal applicant will possess the initiative to remain up to date with new system changes, a solid mastery of iterative, user feedback-based development, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Core Job Duties
The Developer 2 is responsible for researching and analyzing program or system issues, as well as developing program documentation.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing consistent production support for the Gentax application, including resolving errors, new development initiatives, and monitoring daily system activities to ensure availability
- Completing assigned analysis, coding, and testing tasks within agreed timelines and quality standards
- Utilizing technical writing skills to create and updating system documentation, standard operating procedures, and diagrams, while clearly communicating technical concepts to non-technical users through structured, accessible language
- Responding promptly to application issues and service requests to maximize system availability
- Translating business requirements into secure, maintainable code that meets functional needs
- Providing mentorship to junior developers by reviewing code and guiding best practices, while demonstrating subject matter expertise and ownership of previously developed Gentax components
Entry Qualifications
High school diploma/GED and two years of related experience.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2 years of work experience using a .NET programming language
- Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and query optimization techniques
- Critical and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Keen attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
2 Years of ITS/GenTax development experience
Experience with documenting technical processes
Strong research and debugging skills for resolving technical errors
Demonstrated experience in communicating complex technical processes to non-technical staff
Position Status & Pay Grade: Unclassified – Pay Grade N
Hiring Range: up to $79,800

Location: Century Center Office - This vacancy requires office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Telework options are subject to change based on DOR policies and the ability to meet performance expectations.
