Dean for Student Affairs
Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Dean for Student Affairs administers and provides leadership to student affairs operations for the college, directly overseeing multiple areas including Student Activities, Testing, Student Conduct.
NOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL BE SCREENED AT THE PREFERRED LEVEL. APPLICANTS MUST MEET BOTH THE MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
· Manages and supervises the daily campus operations, programs, service and staff critical to student affairs.
· Serves as advisor to the GPTC Student Government Association (SGA).
· Shares responsibilities for advising and traveling with multiple GPTC student clubs and organizations.
· Coordinates with campus constituencies and community leaders in developing and managing co-curricular learning, student leadership, and service opportunities.
· Networks and collaborates with faculty, staff, student groups and other members of the College community in developing extracurricular programming to enhance the student learning experience and encourage student leadership through personal growth and development.
· Helps establish a student culture where diversity is encouraged and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership, promoting student inclusion in the College decision-making process.
· Informs and educates students of their rights and responsibilities as members of the GPTC community, serving as point of information for students and responding to students' needs.
· Provides leadership in and is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and regulations pertaining to student life, especially those related to alcohol and drug usage, Title IX and student conduct.
· Provides leadership in and assists with the annual production of the Student Handbook and other documents.
· Administers the policies and regulations of the College as they pertain to students, including internal College Judicial and disciplinary procedures.
· Serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team.
· Serves as ambassador for College with alumni, parents, students, neighbors, community leaders, and professional colleagues.
· In addition to duties listed above, provide oversight to Career Services, Testing and Student Services Department (Special Populations, Veterans, International Students, Student with Disabilities).
· Reports to and collaborates with Vice President of Student Affairs.
· Assist with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities
· Assists in the planning and organizing of the Division’s work to meet objectives;
· Manages budget and expenditures for assigned departments withing the Division of Student Affairs.
· Develops and maintains internal control structures for assigned functions ensuring quality and customer service;
· Monitors progress, productivity, and performance reviews of assigned staff;
· Reviews operations for efficiency and compliance with applicable regulations and standards;
· Participates in strategic planning;
· Performs research and analysis for special projects;
· Directs the services of contractors by overseeing vendor operations in assigned departments;
· Coordinates departmental activities with federal, state and local agencies ensuring cooperation and compliance;
· Serves on various boards and committees as needed;
· Assists with the compilation of quarterly and annual reports;
· Reviews relevant data and alerts vice president of trends and recommended actions;
· Manages and or coordinates the development of publications and communication for respective departments;
· Develops and maintains systems relevant to area of responsibility;
· Assists with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities;
· Develop and maintain a system of services for students, including counseling, admission, orientation, testing, job placement, special populations’ assistance, graduation events, student activities and student leadership development.
· Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.
· Develop, and propose to the Vice President of Student Affairs, policies and procedures for assigned departments within Student Affairs.
· Plan and facilitate new student orientation and coordinate, with other departments, outreach and registration services.
· Coordinate departmental activities with other federal, state and local agencies that provide student services. Serves on various boards, committees within the college
· Assist with the compilation of quarterly and annual enrollment reports
· Plan and manage budgets of assigned departments.
· Coordinate the development and distribution of internal and external communication relative to assigned areas.
· Actively participate in the planning and implementation of graduation exercises.
· Assist with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities as requested.
