Culinary Arts Department Chair

Atlanta Technical College (ATC), a state agency is currently seeking applicants to fill the Culinary Arts Department Chair position, in the Business and Public Service Technologies division. This position will be located on ATC’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Deliver Curriculum: Create engaging lesson plans that cover a range of culinary techniques, from basic knife skills to advanced cooking methods.
- Hands-On Instruction: Lead hands-on culinary classes, ensuring students gain practical experience and confidence in the kitchen.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student progress through practical exams, written tests, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to foster growth.
- Kitchen Management: Oversee the maintenance of kitchen equipment and enforce safety and sanitation standards in the classroom.
- Industry Engagement: Stay current with culinary trends and maintain relationships with industry professionals to enhance the educational experience.
- Student Support: Offer guidance and support to students, helping them navigate their educational journey and career planning.
Qualifications:
- Education: A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited institution; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of professional culinary experience, with a proven track record in a variety of kitchen environments.
- Teaching Experience: Prior teaching experience in a culinary setting is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Executive Chef (CEC) or Certified Culinary Educator (CCE) are advantageous.
- Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor students.
Physical Requirements: Some lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required in this position.
