THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL LIVE IN THE SOUTHERN/SOUTHWEST REGION OF THE STATE
Criminal Investigator Position Summary:
The Criminal Investigators are responsible for conducting thorough, timely, and objective investigations in support of parole consideration, restoration of rights, commutation, and special inquiries as requested by the Parole Board. This role involves reviewing comprehensive documentation, conducting in-depth interviews, and submitting high-quality reports that inform the Board in their decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule and conduct timely in-person interviews with life-sentenced inmates across state correctional facilities using advanced investigative techniques.  When necessary, interview additional individuals familiar with the case to gain deeper insights.Conduct in-person restoration of rights and commutation interviews at applicants’ residences, assessing the home environment and lifestyle.  Interview relevant individuals to provide additional perspectives on the applicant’s behavior and rehabilitation.Prepare and submit detailed written reports summarizing findings within established timeframes.

Required Skills and Competencies
Strong investigative and interviewing techniques

Excellent written and verbal communication

High level of organization and time management

Objective judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information

Ability to travel frequently across the state

Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc.)

Qualifications
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.Pass an in-depth background investigation to include driver’s history, credit history, psychological testing, and pass a pre-employment polygraph examination.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of related experience; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and four (4) years of experience in law enforcement or related field; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Criminal Investigator 2 (PSP091) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require the incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
