Criminal Investigator 1 - Office of Investigative Services (Statewide)
Under limited supervision, trains to investigate alleged or suspected violations of Federal, state, or local laws, rules and regulations to determine if evidence is sufficient to recommend prosecution or to report findings to the appropriate jurisdictional authority for their action.
Other Benefits: Upon completion of one year post release from the Field Training Officer Program date, incumbent will be promoted to Criminal Investigator 2 upon being able to demonstrate successful performance.
Competencies Needed:
(Applicants MUST be Georgia P.O.S.T. certified as a peace officer and provide a PBLE, P.O.S.T. OKEY number and P.O.S.T. transcript when applying. Certification must be in good standing and is not suspended, revoked, subject to a pending investigation, probation, or any other sanction. DDS policy 302).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, such as criminal justice, psychology, public administration, or sociology and must meet the prerequisites and completed the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program certification through Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.)
OR
Two (2) years of experience in law enforcement or related field, such as uniformed officer, detective/investigator and the Basic Law Enforcement certification through Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.).
Note: Some positions may require the incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
Note: (South, GA) Live in any area of the region between Macon and the Georgia/Florida border.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of professional experience as a criminal investigator, within a law enforcement agency, assigned to an investigative unit investigating criminal offenses for the purpose of prosecution.
Additional Instructions:
1. Complete an extensive background questionnaire.
2. Meet medical standards (including physical, vision, and hearing) for State Law Enforcement Officers
3. Hold current certification as a law enforcement officer from the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council that is not suspended, revoked, or subject to a pending investigation.
