Under general supervision, the Communications Specialist (Georgia Access for Business) plans, develops and implements a communications plan for the department.

Develops informational publications and presentations and plans conferences and seminars for social and community outreach. 

Designs, sharpens, and focuses the message pertaining to the department and uses print and other média to communicate the message.

Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with area business community, internal and external departmental customers, and other related contacts. 

May produce and distribute informational material in a variety of média. 

May support média relations posture by drafting press releases. 

Performs public relations activities to increase awareness.

Plans and coordinates conferences, meetings, and special events. 

Responds to routine inquiries by answering questions or directing them to the appropriate agency contact.

Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of communications or job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Communications Spec 1 (GSP040).
