Job Description and Responsibilities: Under general supervision, works in a specialized unit reviewing and processing applications for child care facilities throughout the state of Georgia. The responsibilities listed in this job description generally include, but are not limited to the following:

 

• Reviews applications and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with child care rules, regulations and quality indicators.

• Conducts on-site visits to ensure the facilities are compliant with child care rules, regulations, and quality indicators.

• Compiles and prepares application packets, and determines resulting action.

• Provides technical assistance on child care rules, regulations and best practices.

• Provides support to facilities, providers, vendors, and trainers to assure that compliance with regulations and policy is achieved and improved.

 

Note: Some overnight travel required.                   

 

Physical Position Requirements:

 

·       Must continuously stand or walk for long periods of time; regularly requires bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items or materials occasionally of moderate weight up to 30 pounds.

·       Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

·       The ability to speak clearly is required. 

·       The ability to hear and understand at a normal conversational level is required.

·       The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.

·       Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification.

·       Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

·       The worker must have a valid Georgia driver’s license, insurance coverage and have the ability to drive for extensive periods as needed.

 

 

 

Entry Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience. Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.

 

Agency Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants, who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:

 

Degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology and/or closely related field from an accredited college/university AND two years of professional experience in child care licensing.

 

Technical Competencies:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong computer skills and experience with laptop computers is necessary.

• Regulatory experience and experience in a child care setting.
