Location:  Fulton, Cherokee, Bartow, Forsyth (and surrounding metro counties)

Job Description: Under general supervision, works in a specialized unit conducting complaint and incident investigations involving injuries and serious incidents in child care facilities in the Atlanta Metro counties and surrounding areas.  Evaluates investigative findings for compliance with child care rules and regulations. Compiles and  prepares investigation  reports, and any resulting actions. Provides professional consultation to licensed and prospective child care providers. The goal of this position is to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in care by monitoring compliance with state laws, rules, and regulations, and offering guidance to improve program quality.

·         Performs onsite inspections or complaint investigations to Child Care Learning Centers and Family Child Care Learning Homes as needed according to established rules, regulations and other statutes.

·         Provides professional consultation and support to child care providers in understanding licensing requirements and promoting continuous quality improvement through education, resource sharing, and training initiatives.

·         Documents regulatory violations, issues citations as appropriate, and establishes timelines for corrective actions and compliance.

·         Maintains accurate and timely documentation of inspections, investigations, correspondence, and regulatory actions using required electronic systems and formats.

·         Interprets and explains statutory and administrative rules and regulations governing child care licensing; provides technical assistance to support facilities in achieving and maintaining compliance.

·         Treats customers with respect, courtesy and tact; listens to customer and interacts with customer while maintaining business relationship.

·         Participates in training, professional development, and collaborative team meetings as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience.

Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Psychology, or Criminal Justice and/or related field from an accredited college/university with experience conducting investigations relating to children.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

·         Strong computer skills and experience is necessary. 

·         Regulatory experience in a child care setting.

Technical Competencies:

·         Knowledge of the audit process.

·         Knowledge of program area.

·         Ability to review files for compliance history.

·         Ability to interpret statistical data.

·         Ability to apply review and evaluation methods.

Physical Position Requirements:

·         Must continuously stand or walk for long periods of time; regularly requires bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items or materials occasionally of moderate weight up to 30 pounds.

·         Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

·         The ability to speak clearly is required. 

·         The ability to hear and understand at a normal conversational level is required.

·         The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.

·         Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification.

·         Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

·         The worker must have a valid Georgia driver’s license, insurance coverage and have the ability to drive for extensive periods as needed.
