Savannah Technical College is seeking a Cashier to provide front-line support in the Business Office. The Cashier serves as a key point of contact for students, ensuring a positive and professional experience while managing financial transactions and account-related interactions. This role requires strong communication skills, accuracy, and a focus on customer service to support the financial processes of the College.

Duties:

  • Collects tuition and fee payments from students
  • Balances daily receipts and posts payments
  • Prepares bank deposits
  • Contacts students by phone or email regarding outstanding account balances
  • Issues checks to students and vendors
  • Makes inquiries by phone and email regarding uncashed checks
  • Assists with student registration
  • Performs routine clerical tasks as necessary
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months work-related experience  

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience handling cash, checks, and electronic payments, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency with financial systems, accounting software, or student information systems (e.g., Banner).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Physical Demands:

Responsibilities are typically performed in an office setting with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing and pulling.  The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion is necessary for data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits: 

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
