This internship is open to students or recent graduates interested in workforce development and public policy administration who meet the minimum qualifications below.
The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their part-time Business Programs Intern position in the Office of Workforce Development. The intern will support statewide business engagement and workforce policy initiatives under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), one of the state’s government’s largest workforce programs. Working alongside senior staff, the intern will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of public administration, economic development, and workforce development policy, contributing to efforts that directly impact employers, workers, and communities across Georgia. This role offers exposure to:
• State-level implementation of federal and state workforce policy
• Cross-agency coordination with education, labor, and economic development partners
• Data-informed decision-making, program design, and continuous improvement
• Real-world challenges facing public systems serving businesses and jobseekers

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Developing a comprehensive understanding of WIOA and Wagner-Peyser, with particular emphasis on business services and work-based learning opportunities (on-the job training, incumbent worker training, and customized training);
• Providing support for the administration of National Dislocated Worker Grants (NDWGs) and other related federal and state grants;
• Providing business services-related technical assistance to state staff and Local Workforce Development Areas (LWDAs);
• Assisting with training LWDAs, state staff, and other stakeholders on WIOA-compliant business services activities and best practices;
• Drafting, editing, and presenting policy documents, research reports, and planning documents;
• Planning, supporting, and coordinating meetings and conferences to support training efforts and other business services-related initiatives;
• Supporting external partnerships with education, workforce, economic development and other employer and community-related partners;
• Collaborating with other state agencies and stakeholders to advocate on behalf of assigned initiatives and programmatic subject matter;
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree completed or in progress required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. (Political Science, Public Affairs, Business Administration, Communications, etc.)
