Job Description:

Responsible for the development, analysis, review and reporting of cost center budgets to ensure fiscal accuracy while maintaining compliance with agency policy, state law and federal regulations. 

 

Major Job Responsibilities:

·       Maintain agency Worktags in GA@WORK (Workday) to ensure accounting and reporting effectiveness

·       Prepare monthly and quarterly cost center budget reports for presentation to executive leadership

·       Collaborate with cost center managers in the development and implementation of fiscal year budgets  

·       Provide internal customers with guidance and technical assistance on the budget process

·       Perform analysis and periodic reviews of program and policy issues

·       Review of financial trends and recommend appropriate feedback to relevant staff

·       Prepare and compile statistical analyses, projections, costing, or plans

·       Understand program business processes and all related financial impact

·       Effectively communicate analytical methodologies to program staff

·       Communicate effectively through various mediums

·       Work effectively and efficiently with other agency staff

·       Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned

 

Performance Aptitudes and Physical Requirements:

·       Requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.

·       Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification.

·       Occasionally stand or walk for long periods of time; moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

·       Requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

·       Requires the ability to speak clearly. 

·       Requires the ability to hear and understand at a normal conversational level.

·       Requires the ability to occasionally continuously stand or walk for long periods of time; regularly requires bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items or materials occasionally of moderate weight up to 30 pounds.

·       Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

·       Requires a full range of hand and finger motion for data entry purposes.

·       The worker must have a valid Georgia driver’s license, insurance coverage and have the ability to drive for extensive periods as needed.

 

Entry Qualifications: Entry Qualifications

Associate degree in accounting, business/public administration, or finance from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of fiscal analysis job-related experience; or two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Budget Analyst 2 (FIP011) or position equivalent.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or any other area involving qualitative or quantitative analysis from an accredited college or university AND three years of professional experience in fiscal analysis.

OR

Six years of professional experience in fiscal analysis.

·       Foundational Knowledge of GA@WORK (Experience or NextGen Project Experience)

·       State of Georgia Government Budget Experience

·       Understanding of Governmental Accounting

·       Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Formulas, Pivot Tables, Charting, Tables & Formatting
