We administer tax laws and enforce laws and regulations concerning alcohol and tobacco products in the state. Auditor/Examiner 1
As an Auditor/Examiner 1, you will examine and analyze accounting records to determine the financial condition or compliance with tax code of an assigned organization program.

 

Core duties

  •  Prepare financial report concerning operating procedures
  • Correspond with taxpayers, their representatives, banking institutions and court offices by either mail, phone or in person

 

What qualifications are required?

Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university

OR

Three years’ experience in a related area

  • The ability to meet the terms and conditions of employment with the Audits Division, including the ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Travel is required in-state only

  • Some positions require the ability to handle 30% phone work, ie. inbound calls, incoming correspondence from Tax Payers

Preferred qualifications:

  •  Good knowledge of accounting and taxation practices
  • One year of tax auditing experience in various tax fields
  • One year of experience in general accounting work
  • One year of tax preparation experience

 

Position Specific Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors Degree and 4 accounting classes

This is a hybrid position. This Auditor/Examiner 1 position operates out of the assigned office and have the ability to telework. The Georgia Department of Revenue also conducts an MVR Check.  Additionally, a criminal background check & state of Georgia tax records check is conducted on all new hires, and you are required to have filed a State of Georgia tax return for the past five years.

Occasional travel is required to meet business needs.

Expected Salary: $50,000

 *DoR temporary associates must have completed at least 6 consecutive months on the current assignment for consideration.
