Alternate Public Defender (South Metro) – Assistant Public Defender III
The Georgia Public Defender Council, Alternate Public Defender South Metro Division is seeking to fill an Assistant Public Defender III position. This position serves the Flint, Clayton, and Griffin Circuits. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position. Primary duties include representing indigent clients in all phases of criminal proceedings, including arraignment, pretrial hearings, trial preparation, plea negotiations, trial, and sentencing. This position involves extensive courtroom and trial experience. Applicants must be current members in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia with compensatory experience.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender III will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs mid-to-advanced levels of professional legal work and may assist in cases of routine complexity. The candidate must be prepared to counsel other attorneys as to the case management practices of handling their assigned cases. Performs other related duties as required.
