Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit- Assistant Public Defender I or II
The Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender I or II. This position will be assigned to the State Court of Baldwin County. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position. The Assistant Public Defender will represent indigent clients with all phases of criminal proceedings, including arraignment, pretrial hearings, trial preparation, plea negotiations, trial, and sentencing. A strong commitment to indigent defense is required. The chosen applicant must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia or be eligible to sit for the next Georgia Bar Examination.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender I or II provides competent and zealous representation to indigent clients. This position handles beginning- to mid-level legal work, manages cases of routine complexity, and assists with more complex matters as needed. Responsibilities include client advocacy, legal research, case preparation, court appearances, and collaboration with attorneys and support staff. Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university. Performs other related duties as assigned.
