Western Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender I or II
The Western Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking qualified and dedicated applicants for the position of Assistant Public Defender I or II in Clarke County. This role offers an opportunity to serve the community by providing high-quality legal representation to indigent clients. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position. The primary responsibilities include assisting and/or handling felony caseloads. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to public service and client-centered representation. Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university and a license to practice law in the State of Georgia. In addition, the chosen applicant will be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender I or II provides dedicated legal representation to indigent clients, handling felony and other criminal cases in Superior Court. This role involves beginning to mid-level legal work, including assisting with routine cases and contributing to serious, high-profile matters. The Assistant Public Defender must possess strong advocacy, writing, and communication skills, as well as demonstrate the ability to manage a fast-paced caseload. Performs other related duties as required.
