Organized Retail Crime Unit –Prosecutor
The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General. The position filled through this announcement will serve in the Organized Retail Crime Prosecution section of our Prosecution Division..
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Attorney General of Georgia is seeking an experienced prosecutor to join Georgia’s new statewide Organized Retail Crime Prosecution Unit. The Unit will consist of lawyers and investigators dedicated to prosecuting organized retail crime across the State of Georgia. They will work with the Prosecution Division and other staff within the Prosecution Division dedicated to investigating and prosecuting organized retail crime activity.
Duties will include:
· Prosecute organized retail crime across the State from investigation through trial. This includes, but is not limited to, directing investigations, drafting indictments, filing and litigating motions, examining witnesses, and sitting as lead counsel at trial.
· Establish new partnerships and maintain current partnerships with retailers.
· Supervise, work with, and conduct ongoing training of organized retail crime prosecutors, investigators, and administrative staff.
· Partner with local and federal prosecutors, law enforcement, a community leaders to effectively prosecute organized retail crime.
· Coordinate and conduct organized retail crime training for law enforcement and related agencies.
· Review and coordinate search warrants, arrest warrants, and subpoenas for records.
· Work with the White Collar, Human Trafficking, and Gangs Sections on cases involving overlapping elements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited law school and Member of the Georgia Bar in good standing.
(typically holding a minimum of three years or more of experience in the specific area or a related area of the law.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more items below:
· Five (5) or more years of litigation or prosecution experience
· Two (2) or more years of experience prosecuting theft crimes or cyber crimes

Additional Information:
A criminal background check is completed on all candidates; employment is also contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of the background investigation. Candidates that are being strongly considered for the position will also be required to submit a Department of Law employment application & waiver, Georgia Department of Revenue Tax Clearance letter and copies of official college transcripts.
