Area Program Assessment Specialist
Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education - Office of School Improvement is recruiting for an Area Assessment Program Specialist. Under the direction of the Office of School Improvement, the Area Assessment Program Specialist facilitates a variety of continuous improvement support for federally identified districts and schools. This position entails coordinating, implementing and monitoring resources and supports to build the capacity of school, district and state agency staff to effectively address continuous improvement and provides support to schools outside of federally identified schools list at the requests of districts and the Office of School Improvement. The Area Assessment Program Specialist collaborates with GaDOE staff and district/school leaders to guide and support continuous improvement. Duties include but are not limited to:
Job Duties
- Facilitate diagnostic and progress monitoring review processes at districts and schools
- Analyze data at the school, district, and state agency levels to engage in data-driven decision making for school, district and state agency processes and goals
- Prepare and deliver professional development
- Liaise between district/school needs and state agency supports and resources
- Provide a variety of supports to field staff who are directly working with districts and schools
- Identify and scale up innovative practices, high-leverage instructional practices, and evidence-based strategies to support schools, districts and state agency to effectively engage in continuous improvement
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Successful experience and skill in leading school turnaround
- Experience in building the capacity of organizations to improve processes and better outcomes
- Experience and skills in coordinating and effectively utilizing a variety of resources to meet program goals
- Successful experience and skill in program management
- Experience in coaching school and district leaders
- Proven data analysis and visualization expertise
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to problem-solve and to create organizational structures that facilitate efficient systems for others
- Ability to work independently and to remove barriers to performance
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in fluid and often changing situations
- Knowledge and effective use of technology platforms, especially the Microsoft Suite
**This is a remote telework position based in downtown Atlanta.
