American Sign Language Interpreter (Part-time)
Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) – Georgia PINES located in Clarkston, Ga is recruiting for an hourly American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. Under broad supervision, performs duties including but not limited to:
Description of Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Provide ASL interpreting services at GaPINES for the toddler program, and for our ASL Director at assemblies, various meetings, conferences, and home visits
· Strong ASL to English voicing skills are critical in support of educational mission
· Must adhere to the RID code of professional conduct
· Must be a strong team player and demonstrate flexibility
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
· Hold current National RID/NAD certification (NIC, CI, or CI & CT) or pass the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) at level 3.5 or higher
· Experience interpreting in an educational and work settings
· Experience providing ASL workshops and trainings
· Computer literacy
· Understanding of and experience working with the Deaf community
· Flexibility in scheduling
· Valid Georgia Driver’s License
Some travel may be required
