Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program Coordinator (Grant Funded)
The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS), Regulatory Compliance Division, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Coordinator within the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) Unit. Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for limited projects and well-defined assignments regarding the ADAP program.
The ADAP Coordinator responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, compiling and analyzing data and preparing comprehensive reports for benchmarking and grant reporting; participating in the assessment of program operations; monitoring and ensuring program compliance; seeking creative solutions for system automations and continuous process improvements; providing technical assistance to external and internal customers; providing computer support and/or managing an automated information system to tract ADAP expenditures, instructions, shipments, etc.; maintaining positive working relationships with the Georgia Department of Education, local school boards, school personnel, and the grant liaison and provider; and planning, developing and delivering effective presentations for adult and teen training courses.
The incumbent will be responsible for responding to management and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner in accordance with the core values and mission of the DDS.
The incumbent will be expected to maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to change in a fast-paced environment.
The incumbent will be responsible for being responsive and escalating customer complaints to management.
The incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain strong partnerships between the Division and its internal and external business partners. The incumbent will be responsible for researching trends and updated statistics related to alcohol and drug awareness to incorporate into reports, newsletters, and the ADAP manual.
The incumbent will be expected to ensure the requirements of the grant are satisfied.
Competencies Needed: Demonstrated competencies needed to successfully perform this job include:
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure.
• Ability to make decisions and perform job responsibilities with limited supervision.
• Ability to create program related surveys, newsletters, and ads.
• Experience troubleshooting/problem solving.
• Experience working cooperatively as a team.
• Experience gathering and reporting statistical data.
• Experience developing and delivering effective presentations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Administrative Assistant 1 (GST050) or an equivalent position
OR
- Completion of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college and one (1) year of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess ALL of the following:
• One year experience as an instructor in a classroom environment teaching teens or adult learners,
• Demonstrated work experience analyzing queries/data via reports, AND Three years’ experience working for a government entity interpreting rules and regulations
