Victim Services Advocate I

This position is very fast paced and requires exceptional attention to detail and deadlines

Summary: During the post-sentencing phase, this position is a liaison between the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Department of Community Supervision, victims, their family members, and community members.

Core Job Responsibilities: 

Job Responsibility 1: Post-Sentence Support to Victims Description: Provides post-sentence support and information to victims while serving as a liaison between the victims, service providers, and partner agencies. The team member successfully understands and accurately completes assignments related to victim registration, protest investigations, victim notifications, locating victims, and processing release information.

Job Responsibility 2: Process Incoming Correspondence Description: Identifies, logs, and assigns all incoming victim correspondence received via U.S.P.S., online, email, and other external sources. Assesses and investigates correspondence, protests, and complaints to determine relevance to the unit’s statutory requirements.

Job Responsibility 3: Telephone Coverage Description: Provides coverage and logging of division telephone calls from the mainline or calls routed via GA-VIP or the PAP/GDC call center. Provides victims with accurate information regarding the offender's status. Directs all incoming phone calls to designated specialists as needed. Provides crisis intervention services/communication to crime victims. Documents all calls and inquiries in the case management system. 

Job Responsibility 4: Board-Designated Violent Offense List Processing Description: Responsible for organizing and submitting the Board-Designated Violent Offense list to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council. Other Duties as Assigned
