Adult Education Teacher - ESL/Civics
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Instructs and supervises students (in person, online, or simultaneous formats) with varied English language proficiency in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and Bridge classes for Integrated Education and Training (IET) Courses using relevant classroom instruction;
· Develops lesson plans, syllabi, and course outlines, adhering to Technical College System of Georgia Curriculum framework;
· Communicates effectively and establishes cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties;
· Evaluates student progression in attaining goals and objectives;
· Will be familiar with NRS curriculum standards, GA Curriculum Framework, WIOA initiatives, and English Language Proficiency Standards;
· Attends professional development activities offered through TCSG and other associations and assists with delivering content to instructors;
· Displays a high level of professional commitment to the work and its purpose. Demonstrates eagerness to assume responsibility and has a 'can do' approach to work. Shows persistence, seeks appropriate alternatives when obstacles arise, and shows self-motivation in completing tasks and accomplishing goals;
· Has flexibility in response to change and adapts to new methods and procedures;
· Accepts direction and feedback from supervisors and follows through appropriately;
· May advise students as to next steps for career and academic pursuits;
Position will require daytime and some evening hours to assist with day and evening programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Work experience in Adult Education and/or English as a Second Language instruction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in ESL or related field. Four years teaching experience, preferably with adults. Experience in teaching and/or instructional design using Collaborate/Blackboard or
